What is K Navigator?

K Navigator is an AI-powered copilot designed specifically for biologists and biomedical researchers. It’s a no-code platform that enables the rapid generation, testing, and refinement of scientific hypotheses, especially in oncology, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of coding skills.

Unlike general-purpose AI, K Navigator is tailored for research, helping users explore complex multiomic data. Built by scientists for scientists, it combines scientific rigor with user-friendly design, ensuring every result is credible, transparent, and easily traceable back to trusted sources - all through natural language interaction.

What can K-Navigator do?

K-Navigator is a powerful copilot designed to accelerate and enhance biomedical research by integrating advanced AI with trusted scientific resources. Here’s what K-Navigator can do for you:

Literature review & gap analysis:

K-Navigator can rapidly review scientific literature on any biomedical topic, giving you concise, journal-style summaries. It identifies what is already known, highlights the latest publication trends, and points out areas where further research could have a significant impact.

Consolidated knowledge from multiple, trusted sources:

By drawing from only credible data sources, including PubMed and comprehensive biological knowledge bases, K-Navigator provides synthesized, evidence-based insights to answer your scientific questions. All data and recommendations are fully traceable, so you can verify the underlying sources.

Smart Hypothesis Testing:

You can use K-Navigator to validate scientific hypotheses, leveraging advanced statistical reasoning and up-to-date datasets. The system helps you explore whether your ideas are supported by the current body of scientific evidence.

Scientific Writing Assistance

Need to draft a review paragraph, scientific summary, or section for a manuscript? K-Navigator generates high-quality, publication-ready text tailored to your research needs.

Interactive Data Visualization

K-Navigator creates interactive plots and data visualizations using resources like TCGA and MOSAIC, making it easy to summarize, analyze, and interpret complex patient datasets. You can explore data by slicing and dicing variables to uncover deeper insights.

How is K-Navigator different from other LLMs?

K-Navigator is purpose-built for biomedical research, offering unique features and scientific rigor that go far beyond the capabilities of general-purpose LLMs. Here’s what sets K-Navigator apart:

1. Smarter Scientific Reasoning

Unlike generic LLMs that often provide surface-level or generic answers, K-Navigator delivers scientifically robust reasoning. It supports every analysis with statistical evidence—such as p-values and population-level data—so you can trust the validity of its findings and never have to rely on guesswork.

2. Exclusive Access to Cutting-Edge Data

K-Navigator provides access to specialized datasets unavailable in mainstream LLMs. For example, you can analyze MOSAIC Window, a subset of the largest multiomic spatial oncology dataset, unlocking insights from a unique and powerful data resource.

3. Interactive, User-Driven Visualizations

With K-Navigator, data exploration is intuitive and interactive. You can iterate on data visualizations in real time using plain language. Just ask to filter charts by new variables, compare groups, or adjust parameters. This makes deep data analysis both faster and more engaging.

4. Publication-Ready Scientific Writing

K-Navigator generates responses that sound like real scientific writing. Its outputs follow accepted scientific conventions, producing clear, coherent, and publication-ready paragraphs—no more generic or off-topic content.

5. Designed by Scientists, for Scientists

While generic LLMs are designed for broad, everyday tasks (such as writing poems or planning trips) and are based on data from all over the web, K-Navigator is laser-focused on the specific needs of researchers and only pulls from credible scientific sources. It’s engineered by scientists to fit the workflows, language, and standards of the biomedical community, ensuring relevance and credibility in every interaction.

K-Navigator empowers researchers with rigorous scientific reasoning, exclusive data access, interactive analytics, and precise scientific communication—delivering specialized support that generic LLMs simply can’t match.

How do you make sure that the scientific conclusions generated are evidence-based and accountable?

At Owkin, we recognize that any scientific tool, whether it’s AI-driven, a spreadsheet, or statistical software, can be misused or lead to misleading conclusions if not applied responsibly. That’s why K Navigator is built with robust safeguards to promote transparency, accountability, and scientific rigor.

Every result generated by K-Navigator is grounded in evidence from authoritative sources such as PubMed and validated biological knowledge bases. For each output, users can trace back recommendations to their original sources, ensuring full provenance and transparency. Our explainability features log every data source, model decision, and rationale, making the reasoning process fully visible and auditable.

To further reduce the risk of false or hallucinated information, we’ve implemented technical checks to verify that every cited source exists and is relevant to the scientific question at hand. However, we acknowledge that no AI system is infallible—scientific oversight and expert review remain essential. K-Navigator is designed to assist researchers, not replace human expertise or decision-making.With these measures, we empower users to make informed, reliable decisions while maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity.
